Derrick Adams: Sweet Retreat (Unicorn Floater) T-shirt

This T-shirt was produced on the occasion of Derrick Adams: RECESS at Gagosian, Burlington Arcade, London. Embodying the themes of Black joy, play, and leisure that are at the center of Adams’s practice, the presentation included new works and an installation of the artist’s interactive sculptures Funtime Unicorn Spring Riders (2022). The shirt features a black unicorn inflatable, an icon that emerged from the scenes of aquatic recreation in Adams’s Floaters paintings (2016–20) and inspired Funtime Unicorn Spring Riders as well as other recent installations and editioned artworks.
