Edmund de Waal: atmosphere
This book was published on the occasion of the exhibition Edmund de Waal: atmosphere at Turner Contemporary, Margate, England. It documents atmosphere (2014), a work commissioned specially for the museumâs Sunley Gallery, which overlooks the North Sea. The installation, comprising 286 porcelain vessels in nine vitrines, was created in response to the changing landscape and clouds viewed from the gallery as well as its architecture.
The book features color installation photography showing the work at different times of day, as well as drawings for the piece. It includes a text by the artist and a dedicated section of images, short texts, and quotations on the theme of atmosphere by artists and writers such as John Constable, John Ruskin, J. M. W. Turner, and Virginia Woolf.
