Edward Ruscha Catalogue RaisonnĂ© of the Paintings: Volume Seven, 2004â2011
The Edward Ruscha Catalogue RaisonnĂ© of the Paintings is an ongoing project by Gagosian that to date comprises seven volumes. Volume seven documents the 230 paintings, and studies for paintings, that Ed Ruscha made between 2004 and 2011. The work of this period extends various earlier series, including the mountain paintings, several of which now incorporate texts from Jack Kerouacâs novel On the Road. Other important works take decay, waste, and retrieval, and the passage of time as themes, notably the Course of Empire series (Ruschaâs contribution to the 51st Biennale di Venezia in 2005) and the Psycho Spaghetti Western paintings. The volume contains a comprehensive exhibition history, bibliography, and biographical chronology, as well as sketches, studies, and documentary photos. It was edited by Robert Dean and features essays by art historian Thierry de Duve and curator Linda Norden.
