This book was published on the occasion of the exhibition Friends and Relations: Lucian Freud, Francis Bacon, Frank Auerbach, Michael Andrews at Gagosian, Grosvenor Hill, London. Curated by art historian Richard Calvocoressi, Friends and Relations presented over forty key paintings by these four era-defining artists. With a focus on portraiture of friends, lovers, and family members, the exhibition elucidated the connections between their respective practices, and also featured some of the artistsā portraits of each other.
