Georg Baselitz: Imperia

Georg Baselitz: Imperia features a selection of photographs taken by Elke Baselitz of her husband’s painting and sculpture studios in Imperia, Italy. The photographs were taken over a twelve-year period, from 2007 to 2019—roughly, the artist’s eighth decade. They capture Georg Baselitz’s daily routines, his materials and working methods, the progress of particular works and groups of works, and moments of contemplation seen through Elke’s eyes. The publication also contains an essay by Richard Calvocoressi, recollections by Elke Baselitz, and an index of the people and artworks depicted in the photographs.
