Jadé Fadojutimi: Jesture
This book was published on the occasion of the exhibition JadĂ© Fadojutimi: Jesture at Pippy Houldsworth Gallery, London. The hybrid nature of the exhibitionâs title represents a response to the disruption of daily rhythms during lockdown by evoking a sense of the absurd. Dubbed âenvironmentsâ by the artist, the vivid abstract compositions gathered in the exhibition are built up with layers of oil paint interrupted by more linear marks in oil pastel.
The book reproduces the eighteen works in the exhibition and features âFrom Life â Thoughts on the paintings of JadĂ© Fadojutimi,â an essay by critic and editor Jennifer Higgie, as well as a series of written reflections by the artist on the nature of love, life, imagination, and her creative process.
