Jennifer Guidi: Rainbow Orb 2

Rainbow Orb 2 (2023) is a limited-edition print by Jennifer Guidi, based on her 2017 painting of the same title, produced with Phaidon and Artspace to benefit the Dallas Museum of Art. The colorful abstraction is finished with screenprinted varnishes and glass flocking to emulate the textures of the Los Angeles–based artist’s sand-encrusted canvases. Guidi is inspired by traditions and tendencies distinguished by their use of optical patterning, from visionary Tibetan sand mandalas to the modernism of the American Southwest and lyrical West Coast abstraction. The radiating composition of Rainbow Orb 2 is characteristic of Guidi’s ongoing visual and tactile investigation into mysticism, spirituality, and meditative states of mind.
