Paris Review: Anna Weyant

This poster reproduces the cover of the Spring 2025 issue of the Paris Review, featuring Anna Weyant’s still life painting Night Flowers (2024–25). Evoking the work of Dutch masters such as Gerrit van Honthorst and Judith Leyster with its subdued tonality and muted palette, the canvas depicts a glass vase of white-and-yellow blooms distinguished by their cartoonlike stylization and flatness. A trickle of water is shown leaking from a crack in the vessel and dripping down the ledge on which the arrangement stands, consistent with Weyant’s observation that “the sinister can often be masked by beauty.”
