Willem de Kooning: The Last Beginning

This poster featuring an untitled painting from 1983 was produced in 2007, in conjunction with Willem de Kooning: The Last Beginning at Gagosian, West 21st Street, New York. Curated by Klaus Kertess and presented in cooperation with the Johanna Liesbeth de Kooning Trust, the exhibition featured twenty-three paintings that trace an evolution from the densely layered surfaces of the late 1970s and early ’80s to the clean, crisp lines of the mid-’80s and the rich, ebullient compositions of the artist’s final working years.
