Jenny Saville: Oxyrhynchus

This poster featuring Odalisque (2012–14) was produced in 2014, in conjunction with the exhibition Jenny Saville: Oxyrhynchus at Gagosian, Britannia Street, London. Depicting two fragmented and intertwined reclining nudes, the painting alludes to the eroticized painterly genre of its title, and to the ancient Egyptian archaeological site for which the exhibition was named—a place that Saville contemplates through depictions of paired faces and body parts that overlap with shadows and reflections.
