Pablo Picasso: The Mediterranean Years (1945ā1962)
This poster featuring Portrait de femme Ć la robe verte (1956) was produced in 2010, in conjunction with Picasso: The Mediterranean Years (1945ā1962) at Gagosian, Britannia Street, London. Curated by John Richardson and Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, the exhibition focused on the postwar years in which Picasso began to spend more time in the South of France, returning to the Mediterranean setting that had nourished some of his most important stylistic changes in the past. This portrait shows Jacqueline Roque, whom Picasso married in 1961, seated in profile, her striking features rendered in sharp triangulated planes of calming shades of green and lavender.
